Askemos version 0.7.228. October 2003
Version 0.7.2 is a major enhancement for BALL, the "Byzantine Askemos Language Layer". Beside many other new features, bugfixes and refinements, new code was added to provide a core for the implementation of more application programming languages.
New in this version
-------------------

- byzantine synchronisation
- SSL support
- asynchronous dns lookup
- LALR?(1) parser generator (bison port, D. Boucher)
- pattern matcher (A. Wright, B. Duba)
- general interpreter core (F. Winkelmann)
- rscheme persistent store supports garbage collection (D. Kolbly)
- usual bug fixes, including the annoying lost file descriptor

Next To Be Done
---------------

- documentation refinement (documentation is still a bit rough)
- finish XPath, XSLT and implement with those new tools
- implement other application languages on top of the new interpreter-core

What is Askemos (and BALL)
--------------------------

Askemos refers to an abstract space of ideas (virtual objects),
which can be formaly expressed (using a certain set of theories).
BALL is the first implementation of an intrusion resistant
and incorruptible operating system.
A distributed virtual machine, running on a network of equal peers,
which supports projections from that abstract space "Askemos"
and make them accessiable via network protocols.
